I remember this!

I stumbled upon this box this afternoon while I was looking for something else.  This was a box of stationary that belonged to my mother long before I was born.  She gave it to me many years ago.  I have always treasured it for the softness of the image.

The Unexpected

a perfect little mushroom growing on a friend's front porch
a duck with a doo we spoke to at Lake Tomahawk
beautiful handiwork we found at the park early in the morning

an amazing double-bloomer I found in my end-of -summer neglected garden bed

One of the things I love most about unexpected things you find, is that they seem to point a thought to God so much easier than the things we tend to expect.  Entitlement takes the grace and wonder out of gifts.  When we come across the unexpected, it is clear not only that it is a gift, but the sense of the grace by which it was given and the wonder that it was there at all, magnify the experience of the receiver.

I've been a bit melted

Being that I am a moderate weather kind of person, when summer is at it's finest, I am likely struggling to string thoughts together.  Still, with the help of my trusty Alice and Asher, we have managed to glue the days together with projects and such.  I am a thankful, melted girl...

We gathered up and dusted down each and every knick-nack  before repainting the living room bright yellow.
My garden is till hard at work.
I started coloring my design for a prayer box I'm making for some very dear friends...

Got a base down for one of the birds in my painting.  Honestly, I will hardly believe whenever I finish this one!
It has been a while since I indulged in reading a novel.  I chose to reread one that I read years ago.  If you have never read this one...do yourself a favor and read it!

Look at what I just got!

Last Thursday I read The Wonderful World of Sparkle Girl and Doobins to the children in my magical friend Nancy's kindergarten classroom at Sedge Garden Elementary School.  Look at how richly I was rewarded! Wow!  I got 20 self portraits for my kitchen wall!

I am so delighted!

Today's Garden Gifts

It has been another Saturday in the garden.  It is just such a sweet place and I am just so thankful for all of it.

Beautiful Saturday Morning

There is truly no place like home this morning.  Alice finished 7th grade yesterday so there is a sense of summer vacation around the house on top of the usual weekend off work feeling.  Just sitting on the front porch, I felt like I could be at the luckiest resort in the world.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend.

In Case You are Unsure...

This very important know-how comes courtesy of the Easy How-To Book by Seymour Reit and illustrated by William Dugan.  I will pass along more whenever generosity strikes me...

Great Find

My prize find at this year's Shepherd Center book sale was a biology book that was illustrated by Charles Harper titled Learning with Colour Biology. I am in love with his work.  Look it up at www.charleyharperprints.com

I love May

May is the month of fresh strawberry pie...

brave seed babies with pencil shaving mulch...

the joy of being able to paint out in the garden...

and best of all...it is the month that honors mother's day!  Love, peace and grace to all mamas!
