Strange but True

My husband gave me this old post card yesterday.  I am not sure if this painting is still around, but it was designed by Carroll and Ruby Eaton of Virginia City, Nevada.  The post card says that this painting was done in tribute to Virginia City's once great silver mining industry.  The Silver Queen's dress contains 3,261 silver dollars.  The belt alone contains 28 twenty dollar gold pieces.  The picture is 15 ft. high and 8 ft. wide.  It says that this is one of Nevada's most unusual casino displays.  This doesn't even take into account the green dress that woman is wearing!

  1. I have been there to see the silver lady. Carroll was once married to my great aunt Emma Schaaf. They had a daughter named Sharon. Emma died and is buried in Paradise, Calif. So the story goes, died by gunshot from a man. I am just trying to locate Sharon. 509-543-9994
