Season Change
I began the process of getting the garden ready for the next season today. I still have quite a bit blooming, but even my bloomers are looking tired. I weeded and cleared off everything that is over and done with. I am looking forward to fall plantings and decided that now would be a good as time as any to start a garden journal.

Monday Morning Glory
I planted Morning Glory and Moon Flower vines intermingled outside my bedroom window. It has been like clockwork when the Moon Flowers begin to close up the morning glories are opening. You can almost stand there and watch them change shifts. This color of blue is pretty supernatural.

Friday Picture Treat
My son Asher and I just finished our first week of school together. I know now and I know I will look back over time and understand that our days learning together are so precious and of a great great value. I picked a book written by Rob D. Walker and illustrated by Leo and Diane Dillon for this week's picture treat because it is a great way to finish off our first week.

I can't say enough about how much I admire Leo and Diane Dillon's work. There are great words about them at JVJ publishing illustrators site www.bpib.com/l&dillon.htm and a great collection on google images of some of their work.
I hope to see some of you at the Arts and Faith Festival at Brookstown United Methodist tomorrow. I will be presenting some of my work and speaking at 10 a.m. if your up at at'em at that time! Check my August 12th post titled Arts and Faith Festival Coming Soon for details if you need them. Have a great weekend!

Little Faces
I've always loved collections of things. I hardly matters what it is if I see a little grouping of a particular thing. Boxes, pencils, cat whiskers, broken glass... I realized the other day that I have quite the collection of little faces around the house. Speaking of little faces, today my son Asher and I had our first day of second grade here at home and my daughter Alice had her first day of seventh grade at Redeemer School. It was a big success on both counts!

This is my sweet husband and my third wedding anniversary. I am so thankful. This is a little gift I made him to help celebrate the occasion.

Oscar Howe
Oscar Howe was and American Indian artist who opened doors and minds with his amazing paintings. He was born in 1915 on an Indian Reservation. He died in 1983. His life and art career are well worth looking checking out. You can find out more about him at www.oscarhowe.org
Google images on him give a pretty good selection of his work as well. Here are a few of my favorites. Enjoy!

Sweet Skellies
Alice and her dear friend Rachael covered themselves in glow sticks last night and went for an evening walk. It was really funny seeing them walking and dancing in the dark. A good time was had by all.

Another Picture Treat
I was pretty much obsessed with my picture books when I was a little girl. I would look over the pictures in my favorite books hundreds and hundreds of times. I would stare at them until I could walk inside of them. My view master blew my mind when it came along! Anyway, I had a copy of Hans Andersen's Fairy Tales that was illustrated by Dagmar Berkova. This was one of the chosen. These illustrations all had something about them that scared me a little bit and so attracted me that way as well as being beautiful and mysterious. Here are just a few out of my worn out book...

A Summer Quest
I never got around to making my annual batch of fried green tomatoes last summer so I wanted to be sure and do that this time around. I enjoyed them more than I usually do since I grew the maters! Delicious!
I'm now ready to start the glorious, huge and consuming sky in my painting since finished the ground today. I'm waiting for a plan to hit me...
See my June post titled "Next Up" for the rest of the pictures. I hope everyone has a fine weekend!

New Etsy Prints
I just added two new prints to my Etsy shop! I haven't listed them as cards yet, but please know that all of my designs are available in packages of 6 cards with envelopes.
Dolly Fun
I have to admit that I have yet to grow out of playing with dolls, especially when it comes to the fake food part of dolly play. Yesterday, my very clever Alice made little jars of dolly sweets out of wax coated string to add to her bakery. We both had a sweet time.

As Luck Would Have It
My husband was out thrifting this morning and found and old wooden stacking game that came with smooth wooden discs like the ones I just started painting a few days ago except they are a touch thinner and considerably larger! Much to do...
